Read the role brief carefully
Apply when your age range, language, location and performance profile reasonably match. Sending the same generic profile to every casting notice wastes your time and the casting team’s time.
Keep your introduction message short and include only the requested links or files.
Expect multiple stages
A first self-tape may be followed by a callback, chemistry test, workshop or director round. A callback is progress but not a guarantee of final selection.
Keep dates flexible where possible and ask when the team expects to make the next decision.
Professional behavior matters
Arrive prepared, respect schedules, communicate delays early and do not argue about creative direction during an audition. Reliability is part of how teams remember performers.
After submitting, one polite follow-up is reasonable when a timeline was provided; repeated messages usually do not improve your chances.
