Look for independent evidence

Check the company website, business presence, previous credited work and contact information. Search beyond the link sent by the person contacting you.

A polished Instagram page can still be created quickly, so social followers alone should not determine trust.

Confirm the project and contact

Ask for a role brief, project type, audition location or self-tape instructions and the name of the person responsible for casting. Professional teams should be able to explain what they are requesting.

For major claims, compare details with official announcements or verified company channels where available.

Separate legitimate costs from role-selling

Travel, portfolio services or training can cost money, but a payment framed as the price of guaranteed selection should trigger caution.

Request receipts and written terms for any service you choose to buy.

Editorial note: Entertainment hiring practices vary by project. Verify casting details independently and use your judgment before paying, travelling or sharing sensitive information.
